m.a.m.a.’s got some new shoes

Thanks to all who donated shoes at our launch party!

Los Angeles – July 2009 – At our m.a.m.a. e a r t h launch party at Dakota Lounge in Santa Monica, we asked folks to bring their lightly used or new shoe donations. We got an enthusiastic response and were pleased to be able to take all of these great pairs of shoes over to The Ballington Plaza VS-65. The housing complex, part of Volunteers of America, provides 275 subsidized housing units for veterans, graduates of substance abuse programs, people with disabilities, former Skid Row residents, and the working poor.  With support services for the mentally ill, the elderly and veterans, a beautifully landscaped courtyard, and comfortable community areas, Ballington Plaza is an oasis in the heart of Skid Row.  It is also home to Nathaniel Ayers, the amazing musician that Robert Downey Jr and Jamie Foxx’s movie “The Soloist” was based on.

Thank you to VOALA and all they do!
