a m.a.m.a.’s love for children who do without

My family and I had the privilege of joining my brother Bruno on part of his world tour. What an experience that was. We were able to get more familiar with our Filipino roots, learn more about the people and the culture there. During our visit we visited the Batasan Pambansa complex in Quezon City, one of the many orphanages there. Our visit was hosted by Celia Yangco (from the Department of Social Welfare and Development) and Carmen Menchu Sarmiento (Philippine Airlines Foundation Representative).  I was deeply touched by our visit. The children were so beautiful and very receptive to us being there. I learned that there is an epidemic of orphans there due to a lack of birth control and poverty. My heart broke looking into the eyes of these children and realizing that they had no one to hold them every night, to soothe them when they needed.  The women working there are amazing but anyone could see that they have their hands full as they give their whole selves to their work.  I immediately felt that m.a.m.a. e a r t h could make a real impact in these children’s daily lives by contributing some of our efforts to the orphanage. Upon our return, m.a.m.a. e a r t h has committed to helping them with sending needed supplies for these beautiful children in need.  –Kailani Bayot
