Since 2007, the m.a.m.a. earth team is proud to have worked with nearly 20 schools from preschool to University. Through classes, lectures, workshops and after-school programs, we strive to inspire students, teachers and parents to make a change for the better in their own communities through the power of art, music and nature.

This past November, m.a.m.a. earth happily sponsored the annual Harvest Faire at Journey School in Aliso Viejo, California. Journey School is dedicated to the optimal development of the intellect, social-emotional well-being, and physical capabilities of each student by artistically presenting core academic subjects. The school is a shining example for all public schools as they make great strides in weaving eco-literacy, environmental stewardship and the arts into the K-8th grade curriculum. In 2013, the U.S. Department of Education awarded Journey School with its prestigious Green Ribbon Award thanks to its five gardens, zero-emissions field trips and classroom topics that teach composting, harvesting rainwater and many other eco-themed subjects.

Life at Journey School is greatly enhanced by a host of festivals and celebrations, held throughout the year to mark the passage of seasons and holidays, developmental milestones, and other significant moments. m.a.m.a. earth was happy to sponsor a water project by the 7th graders.. Students promoted conservation with a “water wagon” and sold re-usable water bottles along with “all-day” water refills for a few more dollars. m.a.m.a. earth helped to provide materials for hand-made bracelets (like the wish bracelets m.a.m.a. sells) to serve as an all-day water pass.

California State Superintendent of Public Instruction Tom Torlakson has said, “These outstanding schools are proof that every school day can provide teachable moments about protecting and sustaining our environment.”

A big thank you to Journey School for giving us an opportunity to support such a wonderful community that is making a change for the better every day!
