Our m.a.m.a. e a r t h’s “Grow Where You Are!” youth event was a true success. The students from Ms. Woods poetry class at Morningside High School in Inglewood were enthusiastic and helpful as they took time on a Saturday morning to help with the organic vegetable garden at VS-65. We planted greens, herbs, onions and more. Afterwards, Eugene Cooke gave a moving talk about the value of spending time in nature and the local food movement along with memories of his father who was a US Army Veteran. We heard lots of positive feedback from the residents of VS-65 who seemed happy and supportive of the endeavor with their presence, participation and passing conversation. Thank you to all who supported our August 23rd Michael Jackson tribute event at Zanzibar. Proceeds went to plant this garden in MJ’s honor at Vs-65 Ballington Plaza.
