Dear family,
As I look back at the birth of m.a.m.a. earth, I am amazed at how one little creative idea has evolved. It all started with a bead. For many years, I’ve worked with crystals and precious stones as a hobby making jewelry and I came across this bead called Malachite-Azurite. It’s such a beautiful stone that looked so much like the earth. I learned that it is a stone that promotes healing and aids in transformation and just like that, the m.a.m.a. earth wish bracelet was born! You tie it on, make a wish and when it falls off, your wish goes out into the universe. I wanted to create easy and fun ways for everyone to get inspired, get involved and give to others; to know that all of us can make a difference in our own communities and around the world.
Like the saying goes, ‘It takes a village to raise a child’. I believe it takes a village to raise an idea. m.a.m.a. earth has come a long way since our start in 2007. The project began with a Mother birthing an idea. Then an Auntie taking part to nurture that idea. This global movement could have never been possible without the love, brains and dedication of m.a.m.a. earth’s Creative Director and heartbeat, Andrea Miller. She has played such a vital role in our organization and we are so grateful for her passion and commitment.
I am so excited about the upcoming trip (made possible by a generous donation from The Story Company) that Andrea is about to embark on, to a place very dear to my heart: the Philippines. There, she will represent m.a.m.a. earth at the Malasimbo Music & Arts Festival in the Oriental Mindoro. The festival’s spirit is very much aligned with the m.a.m.a. earth mission of using art, music and nature to make a change for the better and I look forward to seeing what other creative ideas and inspiration come from this trip! We are so grateful for you and your heart, Andrea! Bon Voyage! Mahal Kita!
