Mama Earth is an LA based community organization founded in 2007. Our mission is to use the power of art, music and nature to make a change for the better, locally and globally. We partner with schools, universities, community centers, hospitals and more to present all ages enrichment classes & events. The Mama Earth family extends to more than 40 countries like Brazil, Chile, Germany, Indonesia and the Philippines with young people planting trees, cleaning up neighborhoods and collecting clothes and toys for shelters and orphanages.
Twice a year, we take our COLORING MANDALAS project to Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital to bring coloring kits to children and families stuck in their hospital rooms and also to color along with us.
A mandala is a spiritual symbol representing the universe. Mandalas can be found in every culture and religion. Coloring Mandalas is way to express hidden parts of yourself and explore the spiritual process as it unfolds with color and texture.
Benefits of mandalas include:
1. Relieve tension, anxiety, fear and worry
2. Relax and heal the mind, body and spirit.
3. Stimulate creative thinking and problem-solving.
It’s an ancient art form for all ages!
“Art helps kids to express themselves and not focus so much on the pain”, says Myra Benitez, Manager of Social Work at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital.
We’ll be back at Loma Linda University Children’s Hospital this April 2016! We take Coloring Kits to the children that include several mandala coloring sheets, coloring tools (like pencils, crayons or markers) and a postcard insert with how-to directions.
It costs about $5 for each coloring kit. If we reach our goal, we can create 100 coloring kits!
Our plan is to bring this project to more hospitals, shelters and places there are kids in need. The more money we raise, the more coloring kits we can provide to reach more children so please help us meet and exceed our goal! Donate here >> bit.ly/4ArtTherapy
When you contribute to this campaign, you are helping children in a profound way. Art therapy for children can provide kids with an easier way to express themselves since a young child is likely to be more comfortable expressing him/herself with some crayons and markers, for example, than he/she is going to be at expressing emotions and feelings through words. Art therapy can help children dealing with:
- mental health problems
- grief and/or loss
- learning disabilities
- emotional problems
- abuse of any kind
- cancer or terminal illness

Some people just can’t contribute, but that doesn’t mean they can’t help:
- Ask folks to get the word out and make some noise about your campaign.
- Share away and tell your friends and family about our campaign!
We Thank You!
